Transportation Planning Engineer

Richmond District as Transportation Planning Section is seeking a team player to assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive district planning program and serve as a transportation planning liaison between localities, residencies and central office.
Selected candidate will assist with transportation planning; plan/enhance all land development review activities; provide guidance on local comprehensive/land use plans; coordinate long/short-term planning to various internal and external customers; prepare recommendations for proposed roadway construction projects; participate in key phases of project development; assist with various transportation studies; and participate on quarterly/statewide planning teams and committees.
Position requires knowledge of transportation planning principles, practices, and procedures; and considerable knowledge of engineering. Ability to establish positive relationships between federal, state, and local planning agencies; resolve complex planning/land use issues; develop, conduct, and prioritize planning studies/multiple assignments within scheduled timeframes; apply transportation planning/engineering principles/practices to complex planning/engineering projects; make public presentations; communicate effectively orally/writing; operate computers (MS Office, analysis and modeling software preferred); and conduct extensive research and prepare reports on findings.
Graduation from college or university with major course work in transportation planning, urban/regional planning, or civil engineering preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may suffice. Professional Engineering license is a plus but not required. Valid driver as license required. Position designation is assigned based on business needs.
